[AI Library] 37 Concrete Codex Use Cases - Chapter 17. Fully Automated Video Editing and Branding Asset Injection: Automated Vi
Chapter 17. Fully Automated Video Editing and Branding Asset Injection: Automated Video Editing from Start to Finish
For beginners: what if a coding agent edits video? "AI that helps with coding can edit video?" Beginners may find this odd. But video editing is also a workflow that can be controlled through code. If you hand off a 1-hour webinar, Zoom meeting, or interview video to an editor so it becomes five 1-minute core clips for TikTok or YouTube Shorts with captions and an outro logo video, it usually takes tens of thousands of won per piece and several days of time. But if you give the agent permission to use FFmpeg or assign it as a Skill, it can read the transcript, decide that this section is the most engaging, and then cut the footage cleanly based on exact timestamps.
Use case in practice: extracting 5 LinkedIn Shorts from a 1-hour live workshop
1. Prepare the environment. Create a Video_Highlights folder. Put the original workshop files (workshop_speaker_view.mp4 and workshop_screenshare_view.mp4) and the transcript text file (transcript.txt) inside. Also add the branded outro video to append at the end: 9x_outro.mp4.
2. Give instructions to the agent (example prompt). Direct it with the level of detail a director would use to control scene transitions.
Example prompt input: "Build me a video editing pipeline that analyzes the workshop recording and full transcript in the current folder."
"Highlight extraction: Read the entire transcript and find five 1-minute highlight segments that contain core topics or punchlines likely to keep viewers interested."
"Automatic video cuts: Identify start and end timestamps for the five selected segments and trim the source footage accordingly by writing and running an FFmpeg script."
"Dynamic cutting: When the presenter reads from on-screen text, show screenshare_view.mp4, and when they give general explanations, switch to speaker_view.mp4, using cross-cut editing."
"Branding asset blending: After each of the five clips ends, append the 9x_outro.mp4 branded outro from the folder so it flows naturally. Finally, create a Social_Clips folder and save five finished MP4 files."
AI process and results: The AI writes its own video-processing script and completes the job in about five minutes. When you open the folder, you find five perfectly cut MP4 files. When you play them, the impact line appears when the presenter says, "This skill is only basic text!" and the speaker view is shown at that moment, then the company logo appears cleanly at the end. What used to take 1 to 2 hours of manual clip editing each week now finishes in about 5 minutes.
