As I finish this book, I find myself thinking of a passage I read long ago.
History is not a record of what has already happened, but a mirror for those preparing for what has not yet come.
That sentence stayed with me throughout the writing of Jensen Huang's story.
In October 2025, Jensen Huang visited South Korea.
He came for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit held in Gyeongju. Wearing his signature black leather jacket, he took the stage and spoke about Korea's future. He announced that NVIDIA would supply 260,000 Blackwell GPUs to Korea. That evening, he sat in a fried chicken restaurant in Seoul with the chairmen of Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor, sharing chicken and beer. The sight of the world's ninth-richest person tipping back a beer glass at a neighborhood chicken joint left a lasting impression on many people.
Watching that scene, I wondered: who is this man, really? How can the head of a company worth five trillion dollars in market capitalization smile so easily? What made him who he is?
This book is my answer to those questions.
Looking into Jensen Huang's life, I discovered several things. His path was never smooth. He was sent to a foreign country at the age of nine and had to survive among tattooed teenagers. His first product was a devastating failure, and his company teetered on the edge of bankruptcy more than once. Wall Street mocked his decisions, and competitors dismissed him.
But he never gave up. Every time he failed, he got back on his feet. Every time he was ridiculed, he kept walking his own road in silence. When he invested ten years in a technology called CUDA, the world said it was useless. He believed otherwise. He believed a time would come when the world would need it.
And that time came.
In 2012, an artificial intelligence model called AlexNet stunned the world. It ran on NVIDIA's GPUs. The technology Jensen Huang had quietly built over a decade was finally showing its power. There is a saying that only the prepared can seize opportunity. Jensen Huang is living proof of that.
I started out in the legal profession and have walked many roads since. I worked as a prosecutor, moved into private practice as an attorney, and served in the National Assembly. Then I encountered a new world called artificial intelligence. At first it was curiosity. But gradually I realized this was not just a technological shift; it was a turning point for civilization itself.
I asked myself what I could do in this new era, as a legal professional, a policy expert, and a citizen. This book is one result of that reflection. Through Jensen Huang's story, I wanted to convey the essence of the AI era. I believed the human story behind the technology mattered more than the technology itself.
The history of the Roman Empire reveals a pattern worth noting.
Whenever the empire flourished, people from the provinces stood at its center. Trajan came from Hispania. Septimius Severus came from Africa. Because they were not native Romans, they could see Rome more clearly than Romans could.
Because they were not bound by the old frameworks, they were free to try something new.
Jensen Huang is the same. An immigrant born in Taiwan who crossed the ocean to America. He was never part of Silicon Valley's mainstream. Among elites from Stanford and MIT, a graduate of Oregon State University was always an outsider. Yet it was the outsider's eye that saw what others could not: that a graphics chip built for gaming could become the brain of artificial intelligence.
While writing this book, I was moved many times. The story of a nine-year-old boy at a boarding school in Kentucky teaching his illiterate roommate how to read. The story of a young CEO honestly confessing to a Sega executive that their chip was a failure. The story of a businessman approaching sixty personally delivering a supercomputer to OpenAI.
All of these stories share one thing in common: honesty. Jensen Huang never hid his failures. He never pretended to know something he did not. He often uses the phrase intellectual honesty. Admitting you might be wrong, and never stopping to ask questions in search of a better answer. That is what he means by intellectual honesty.
I believe this attitude is something all of us need as we live through the age of artificial intelligence. The world is changing fast. Yesterday's right answer can become today's wrong one. So we must stay humble. We must never stop learning. We must keep moving forward even as we accept that we might be mistaken.
In his commencement speech at Stanford University, Jensen Huang told the graduates: Run, don't walk. Whether you're running to find food or running to avoid becoming food. His words may sound harsh. But they hold a truth. In an era of change, those who hesitate fall behind. Only those who move forward survive.
To the readers turning this final page, I want to say just one thing. We are standing before an enormous door right now. Beyond it lies a new world that artificial intelligence will reshape. No one yet knows exactly what that world will look like.
But one thing is clear. The door is already open. Whether to walk through it is each person's choice. Jensen Huang has already passed through and is running far ahead. You don't need to follow him. But you can look back at the path he walked and find your own.
A boy born under the sun of Tainan changed the world. You can change it too. Each in your own place, each in your own way. What matters is not giving up. What matters is getting back on your feet every time you fall. That is the way of life Jensen Huang has shown us.
The story ends here, but history goes on. I hope your story becomes part of that history.
